Mpaa Rating : R Release Date : Feb 1, 2013 Limited Actors :Al Pacino,Christopher Walken,Alan Arkin,Julianna Margulies,Addison Timlin,Vanessa Ferlito,Lucy Punch,Mark Margolis,Katheryn Winnick,Bill Burr
Val (Al Pacino) is released from prison after serving twenty-eight years for refusing to give up one of his close criminal associates. His best friend Doc (Christopher Walken) is there to pick him up, and the two soon re-team with another old pal, Hirsch (Alan Arkin). Their bond is as strong as ever, and the three reflect on freedom lost and gained, loyalties ebbed and flowed, and days of glory gone by. But one of the friends is keeping a dangerous secret- he's been put in an impossible quandary by a former mob boss, and his time to find an acceptable alternative is running out. As the sun rises on the guys' legendary reunion, their position becomes more and more desperate and they finally confront their past once and for all. -- (C) Lionsgate

Drew Hunt-Chicago Reader
Some actors don't need top-shelf material. Just the pleasure of their company is enough. And so Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin turn the insubstantial Stand Up Guys into solid entertainment.
Peter Travers-Rolling Stone
It's just fun to watch Pacino, Walken and Arkin work together, very much enjoying the shared experience. Seeing Stand Up Guys is an offer you could easily refuse, but hey, why fight it?
Peter Howell-Toronto Star
If you don't think Al Pacino still has it in him, this is a welcome chance to be proved wrong.
Mick LaSalle-San Francisco Chronicle
Is it fun? Sure, some of the time. Is it good? That's a stretch. Does it tap the potential of these three actors? Fuggedaboutit.
Tom Long-Detroit News
The degree to which "Stand Up Guys" succeeds at all is completely dependent on Walken, who elevates everything around him by seemingly doing nothing at all.
Ann Hornaday-Washington Post
Thanks to Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin - mostly just for being charismatic old pros who are fun to hang out with - Stand Up Guys is watchable, occasionally amusing, not altogether insufferable.
Eric D. Snider-EricDSnider.com
A messy script isn't enough to undermine these clever veteran actors, who manage to make the most of the humour, drama and action without ever losing their dignity.
Rich Cline-Shadows on the Wall
Stand Up Guys probably won't appeal to anyone whose father hasn't got friends of pensionable age.
Graham Young-Birmingham Mail
It's depressing to see the likes of Pacino reduced to making erectile dysfunction jokes, more so when the film labours the gag by having him overdose on Viagra.
Alistair Harkness-Scotsman
Viagra is consumed, erections wrestled, old scores settled - blah blah blah.
Mark Kermode-Observer [UK]
Even when Walken, Pacino, and Arkin are phoning it in - on a rotary phone - they still earn their status as icons.
MaryAnn Johanson-Flick Filosopher
There's sharp dialogue and the odd, startling moment of emotional intimacy scattered amidst the dreck; enough to make this a solidly entertaining couple of hours if you try resolutely not to think about it too hard.
Emma Dibdin-Digital Spy
Frankly, if you put Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin in your movie, you don't really need to worry about the script: we'd happily watch them do just about anything on-screen.
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com
Think what they might have achieved with better material.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express
An initially promising, increasingly glutinous buddy comedy that exploits and squanders the talents of its starry cast.
Charlotte O'Sullivan-This is London
With a little bit of chutzpah and a fistful of Viagra, the tough guys of yesteryear can still come staggering back to make a decent movie.
Peter Bradshaw-Guardian [UK]
A rewarding mash-up of Last of the Summer Wine and Goodfellas.
Tim Evans-Sky Movies
You'd think that septuagenarians Al Pacino and Christopher Walken would still have enough self-respect left in the tank to steer clear of debacles like this.
Curtis Woloschuk-Total Film
All three acting legends bring the spice to a sub-par story. But, the total is not enough to keep this flick from stinking.
Paul Chambers-Movie Chambers
There's much entertainment ... in watching a trio of great actors in the twilight of their careers, at work with a strong script.
John Serba-MLive.com
Stand Up Guys is very much an old man's film, but Stevens just about delivers the performances that its ageing audience demands.
Eddie Harrison-The List
It's hardly great, but it's refreshingly old school.
Philip Martin-Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
There's something about Stand Up Guys that's both brilliant and poignant.
Leland Montgomery-Paste Magazine
...to watch Al Pacino overact with such a deficient script and lackluster directing is agony no moviegoer should be required to endure.
Tony Medley-Tolucan Times
One of the tiredest movies ever associated with those three actors.
Kelly Vance-East Bay Express

Jeannette Catsoulis-New York Times
"K-11" has the makings of a cult movie campfest but little of the authentic wit, edge or outré vision it would take to get there.
Gary Goldstein-Los Angeles Times
Points for niche audaciousness, but that's all.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News
Like an on-the-nose parody of Lee Daniels directing an episode of Oz, K-11 is a pulpy, tone-deaf mess of confused directorial intent ...
Aaron Hillis-Village Voice
Pulpy prison yarn lacks conviction.
Stephen Dalton-Hollywood Reporter
An interesting, if deeply flawed film about the backroom machinations of a gays-only ward at a local prison.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight
K-11 is far too messy and unfocused, growing more unbearable and baffling with every directorial and editorial mistake Stewart makes.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com
Who knew there was a special K-11 inmate division for LGBT criminals to run the dormitory, take drugs, dress up and have sex with the guards?
Victoria Alexander-Film Festival Today
A pulpy, psychologically hollow and emotionally indiscernible mélange of phony jailhouse intrigue and showy gender-politicking, with a bit of anal rape sprinkled in.
Brent Simon-Shared Darkness
Stuck in that valley of being bad, but not so bad that it's actually good.
Jordan Hoffman-Badass Digest
I'm not quite sure why Stewart felt compelled to make this movie, but to her credit I guess, she commits to the story she's telling, as lurid, unpleasant and ultimately pointless as it may be.
Ethan Alter-Television Without Pity
Jules Stewart makes a confident directorial debut. Although the screenplay comes perilously close at times to sensationalizing or stereotyping the characters, Stewart wisely resists.
Fr. Chris Carpenter-Echo Magazine
It careens from one tonal extreme to the next, uncertain about whether it wants to be a gritty drama, camp artifact, or violent prison-sploitation flick.

There's nothing Ernie loves more than an excellent adventure. Whether he's zooming around town on his rocket-powered skateboard or stealing an early peek at the cool new fossil exhibit at the Dinosaur Museum, Ernie never lets the strict rule of his mom, Sue (Jane Lynch) or his tag-along sister, Julia, keep him from stirring up some fun. While visiting his best friend Max's house, daredevil Ernie stumbles upon Max's dad's latest invention: a sleek, egg-shaped time machine. When Julia bursts in on the boys' discovery, the time machine whirs to life and closes its doors on the three arguing kids. It whisks them away to a lush jungle untouched by mankind, where a living, breathing T-Rex named Tyra (Melanie Griffith) mistakes them for her newly-hatched children, joining her family with hyperactive dinosaur son Dodger (Rob Schneider). David Denby-New Yorker
There's very little humor or joy in this Superman story.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com
There's plenty to like in Snyder's hectic, rowdy film. But by the time we reach the bludgeoning excesses of the last half-hour it's hard to shake the sense that this was an opportunity at least partially missed.
Christopher Orr-The Atlantic
Cavill broods handsomely as Superman, but this reboot skimps on fun and romance.
Rafer Guzman-Newsday
The movie delivers on the promise of its title and then some.
Matt Zoller Seitz-Chicago Sun-Times
Man of Steel packs quite a wallop. A few too many wallops, as it turns out.
Tom Long-Detroit News
Uma boa releitura do personagem. Se era necessária, porém, é outra história.
Pablo Villaca-Cinema em Cena
The worst Superman movie since 1987's Superman IV: The Quest for Peace...
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews
MAN OF STEEL is the Superman film us Supernerds have all been hoping for. It's raw, it's gritty, and it's one of the most realistic comic book films ever made.
Chase Whale-Gordon and the Whale
Man Of Steel plunges headfirst into a loud, breathless science-fiction slugfest, offering much spectacle but little wonder.
Keith Phipps-The Dissolve
Super-duper-overStatement. A cataclysm-caravan of speeches, doomed and desolate landscapes, proclamations of glorious destiny or rebirth, and sprawling, stone-faced seriousness. Can't save itself from self-suffocating grandiosity.
Brian Gibson-Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Canada)
A poster child of what blockbuster films have become.
Rhett Bartlett-Dial M For Movies
For two-thirds of the running time, the film is grandly entertaining.... But then, as we get into the climactic battles, the level of wanton destruction becomes excessive, even tacky.
Eric D. Snider-EricDSnider.com
The battles between Superman and the evil Kryptonians set a new standard for on-screen urban destruction, but they also give us pause: Aren't hundreds, even thousands being killed in the riveting, spectacular smashing of skyscraper after skyscraper?
John Beifuss-Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)
Man Of Steel suffers most in its final hour where in degenerates into a seen-it-all-before, CGI-laden action fest.
Matthew Toomey-ABC Radio Brisbane
Man of Steel indirectly tackles the conundrum of how a mankind engrained in monolithic religion greets the concrete proof of a mythological figure. Is it possible for an alien from Krypton to reside alongside an unquestioning faith in Christ?
Brandon Judell-New York Theatre Wire
Superman's grand, mythic nature is both his greatest strength as a character and his fatal weakness. Man of Steel can't quite overcome this, but it's a heck of a lot of fun watching it try.
Dominic Corry-Flicks.co.nz
While it gives you your fix, it doesn't put Superman back on top of our cinematic superheroes.
Jeff Bayer-The Scorecard Review
Although the CGI takes over far too many times, the personality and inner torment of the 'Man of Steel' win out over the special effects.
Linda Cook-Quad City Times (Davenport, IA)
Though fans might miss the levity that made Richard Donner's classic 1978 film Superman: The Movie such a game-changing joy, the thing that really sells this respectful reboot is the dramatic conviction underlying all the mega-scale mayhem.
Jim Schembri-3AW
With a gray and gritty palette and interesting structure, offers its share of thrills but may be too somber overall to appease the typical summer blockbuster fan.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)
In many ways, this is the strongest Superman reboot for a long time. Yet the story manages to be both rushed and overlong, and Snyder doesn't know when to say stop.
Rima Sabina Aouf-Concrete Playground
It'll be controversial, but to hell with it: Michael Shannon is a better General Zod than Terrence Stamp. There. I said it.
Tim Martain-The Mercury
For all its ambition, Man Of Steel fails to soar, instead crashlanding in a humourless, melodramatic mess of explosions.
Matt Neal-The Standard
A mostly-entertaining dark science-fiction parable about morality.
Thomas Caldwell-Cinema Autopsy
